The Wizard's Bedrock
An x86_64 UEFI kernel in Rust, by Isaac Limb (limbwizard), maintained in The Wizard's Ecosystem.
What is in the source
Capability handles and asynchronous submission/completion queues, an EEVDF scheduler, paging and user isolation, and read-only NVMe/FAT32 storage through a VFS. It is a kernel and diagnostic environment; the shell, desktop, and product userland belong to the separate Realm project.
Where to inspect the engineering
- wost contains the privileged abstractions and unsafe Rust; kernel denies unsafe code.
- libs holds hardware-free logic and host tests.
- The decision log records tradeoffs; the foundation register records open work and proof requirements.
What this release establishes
v0.1.0 is an immutable, source-only prerelease. Its release notes record formatting, supply-chain/vendor checks, a shipped-kernel compile, and focused documentation tests. They distinguish those results from unrun full CI, machine boots, security campaigns, and qualification.
No new kernel image or VM appliance is distributed. This preview establishes no current VMware or bare-metal support, production readiness, stable ABI, completed security audit, or phase closure. The stronger qualified-release process remains in place.
